going by the movie kung loa got beat by goro there for kung loa was before goro. goro winning all tournements from there til lui kang. shang tsung being a former champ and no other info about his victory means he was before kung loa.

shang tsung had 9 victories in a row then got beat by great kung loa. in the next tournement kung loa got beat by goro. goro wins 9 tournements in a row then gets beat by liu kang.

the tournement before the great kung loa shang tsung got caught cheating. the elder gods punished him by cursing him with quick aging. he needs to absorb the souls of his victims to get a few more years. the great kung loa beats shang tsung. the great kung loa got upset over something and slayed by goro.
if you watch the first mk movie you see that shang tsung warns goro of a desendent of the great kung loa. goro sees no danger in lui kang however shang tsung is highly worried. |
