Yes, blocking is a crutial part of any fight. Without blocking you're just seeing who has the highest tolerance for pain, not who the best fighter is.

I know DOA you just hold back, which I think is dumb. When I hold the back button I want to move backwards lol not block. Plus the breakers are very important now in MK so without a block button how could we do a breaker since you have to block and move the stick towards your opponent?

Breaker = Blocking a combo that is beating the Crap outta you.. Joystick Block sucks.. the normal block is fine...and easy to control..

Killer Instinct also uses the back button as their crappy way of blocking too. I too think that holding the back button to block punches is dumb.

well as you said in DOA just hold back for block but i am talking about like Street fighter block system it's good for others fighting gamers may be also start to playing mk because mostly peoples hates block button but we mk fan so we think that block button it's good and now breaker there is others way for breaker

In the 3D games, you need block. In the 2D games, you don't(well, at least I don't). The "hold back to block" is plain nonsense. With that, you have no choice of movement. Move back, opponent punches, you stop. Lame.
