Hmm, I see one thing wrong in this conversation. Were these classic games shitty looking in the past? Of course the makers have wanted and will keep wanting to make good looking games. Might be that everything good in storylines and new ideas have been made already. = / And well, there are still great (and new) games, in my opinion.

I am sorry to say this but sf should not be the model for any fighting game... that game was boring if you ask me.. I rented it and i just didn't find the kinda of excitment in it that I thought it was going to give me.. Graphics I FIND are nice to have but honestly I wouldn't mind another mk that was like mk 3 or 2 ...hell I think it would be fun to play another game like that... i loved mk vs dc and I loved the detail that went into it but honestly I like being able to play the game against people who can actually fight...not just do one move over...and over...and over...and over... and I have found a few players who are like that...most of em are older players like myself... so honestly story is what makes the game to me...game play is great... graphics should be last

Should focus on both imo.
MKDA was awsome but new gen should bring better graphics and dare a new gameplay. ^^ And sf was the king back in the 2d systems if you ask me. That thing about the controls for the combos that did not sound like pre-made and you had to think which control could fit next in the middle of a combo to render it effective was awsome. |

They have all things necessary to make both good graphics, and Gameplay & Storyline...

They shouldn't be exclusive, but to the point they are, I'll take story and then gameplay in future MKs.
Honestly I would be fine with graphics like that seen on the N64. As long as future MK games have a great story and non-broken gameplay, I'll buy them up and love them. As far as gameplay goes: I just want a patch for any infinite or overpowered kombos found, and a balanced set of kombatants to select from.

what does that even mean? non-broken gameplay? I think personally people complain to much when they suck at a game and call it broken... if you can't figure out how to out do a person no matter if they use the same move over and over and over again that's your fault...be creative.. i still have yet to have a problem with anyone in most every game i have played

Having a balanced roster of characters. Having no easy infinite combos and patching any that arise. See: Virtua Fighter 5.
If you are thinking that an infinite combo = the same move over and over, you're wrong. Combos can't be countered once they start. The "Max Damage" (MK4) and "Kombo Breaker" (MKD, MKA, MKvsDC) are both quick patches on this. But not even they really fix the problem! The Kobra throw infinite in MKD, the Superman Infinite in MKvsDC, and the numerous infinites in MKA.
