Well, 2D ones look better, since they can be ripped straight from the game, 3D models can´t, atleast not by average comic-maker... :D So it would be needed to cut the characters from screenshots or something. ^_^ Which would look not as good as crystal-clear 2D sprite... It´s also easier to modify the sprites if needed.

You mean that in 3D character models can be viewed at any angle, 360 degrees. And in 2D, only front, back and sides, depends a bit, but smaller amount none the less.
