KI3 Fresh Details & New Character Revealed
Earlier today, Gametrailers released a Chief Thunder combo trailer (which strangely was taken offline shortly afterwards). The end of the trailer teased a brand new character for the game, whom is currently unnamed. The new female fighter has a completely new fighting style involving aerial attacks and what seem to be spider webs. Her face is hidden, so it's unclear if she's a redesigned returning character or an all new entity.
In addition, some brand new game details were unveiled on Microsoft's stream yesterday. Below is a summary of the most notable updates on KI (2013): The original announcer of the first 2 Killer Instinct installments has returned. Players have the option to choose between the classic announced and the new one. The first 8 characters are not the only ones that will make it to the roster. There will be additional characters added after the initial release, and Double Helix is exploring ways to allow players to "try out" different characters before purchasing them. Ken Lobb will return as the voice actor for Chief Thunder. Alternate character colors will be unlockable using an in-game points system. Double Helix is going "further than other fighting games do in terms of costumes." There will be classic costumes from earlier installments, and other alternate skins that players may find "insane". Some of these alternate skins will be serious, others will be light-hearted. Players can also add various accessories to some of the costumes, making for a more unique look. Stages will have a lot of destruction or environmental interaction as fights progress. The dev-team wants to add Stage Fatalities to the game, eventually. Jago & Glacius have undergone many changes since the earlier build of the game. Double Helix is still balancing their Instinct Modes, special moves, and other abilities. Double Helix removed the ability to juggle using the same move, twice. This change was made in order to add more diversity to Combo Enders. A "really great Training Mode" is in the works. Even novice fighting game players will find it useful. The new Training Mode will take players through the combo system, frame links, counters, resets, and more. Double Helix said "For those of you who love the music from Killer Instinct 1 and 2, we've got you covered". There will be some "really nice callbacks" to the original themes, stuff that can be utilized in-game. The next character to be revealed is one that fans "will not see coming, in terms of who it may be." This character does things that Killer Instinct hasn't seen thus far and plays very differently than the other characters.
