A thought about tutorials in MK

This is speaking strictly for teaching timing on combos and learning to do breakers. I have not played the reboot sadly it's gonna be a while before I can. My post is about how to make learning the combos in the game more user friendly. Someone talked about if the player doesn't learn the timing of the combo then some players may get upset and want to complain to change things around with characters rather than learn the timing of the combo through practice and patience. I say why not have a Guitar Hero like timing aid that basically lights up the buttons as a stream buffers or scrolls through the buttons. When the button hits the appropriate point and gets lit up you hit the button in rhythm to make the combo work.

There is a tutorial in MK9 but it could have been better imo. The combo challenge in MKvsDC was really interesting to let everyone take the time to master all the combos from characters they liked since, once again, it lets you choose which character to start with and go on with the chars you want to learn after.
That idea of a Guitar Hero or Rock Band type of feature about the inputs to learn the timing is a great idea. That would be an easy and confortable way for everyone to learn the timing for each combo. Yet, it would be about time for even beginners to be granted with that. I think that would help a lot. |

Thanks for the reply. This timing teacher in tutorials is in part what I think we need in games like this. I admit I am looking forward to playing both PS3 games when I get my system back. I hope that they consider this gaming device in the future.

Let's hope for some changes like that. In terms of look? Well MK9 is awesome. With the touchscreen feature the vita is supposed to make things easier and more enjoyable for everyone once again. Well, let's see. At this point though, i'll wait for MK10.

I haven't really been a fan of combos that are really big(even if they are not repeated spams), they always make me think the health just isn't big enough or something.
You are right, a tutorial seem's very helpful, I think it might actually create more combo pros than we think or something.

There would be a more positive reaction to the game if people could learn to pick up the skills more efficiently. When Bruce Lee taught people Jeet Kun Do he did not limit his teachings to one sect of people. If the information was there he would teach it to them. As far as I can see making tutorials more user friendly is a win win for Warner if they choose to implement them.
