Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks

The greatest game of all time,mortal kombat shaolin monks had the fastest gameplay in all mk games which was even faster than the 2d mk games,and it had lots and lots of combos such as liu's auto run combo (triangle)(circle) which allow's him to imidiatly follow with a running attack,and the fact that the charectars use their elements in attacks other than projectiles,such as liu and scorpion using fire in their punches/kicks and sub-zero using ice.

another great feature is how easy special moves are to perform,normally in the slow mk games you would have the time to input a combo of directions and then the attack button to do the special move,but in a fast passed game like mksm you can just as easly hold r1 and press an attack button to do the special,also the fact that they put many new creative specials is awsome,such as kung lao's hat spin or scorpions diffrent uses for the spear,another great feature is the stamina bar,what makes the stamina bar great is to prevent using specials and blocks to much,it acually adds a lot of realism to the gameplay due to the fact that it would be redicules to continusly summon fire without running out of magic.

another great thing they added to specials is the fact that you can combo them,such as liu's bycickle kick imidiatly followed by a flying kick,or sub-zero's slide imidiatly followed by either uppercut or throwing an explosion ball(whatever you call it).

the charging feature was a great addition to the game,the fact that there are powerfull moves that you can charge for an even longer time and make them more powerfull is amazing,it goes for both normal attacks and specials,for normal attacks,an attack such as kung lao's power attack can be charged by holding down the power attack button,when charged the attack will do more damage and will send the opponent far away,try it,you'll see the diffrence between when you charge it and when you don't,as for specials,when charged you instead use a completly diffrent and more effective special,such as scorpion's spear,when press and hold r1 and then press and hold the circle,scorpion will charge his move and when you release(or after three seconds)scorpion will use an even more painfull move depending on how long you held down the circle button.

what's also a great feature are the weapons,the fact that you get weapons as you are doing the adventure(or when you destroy a box in vs mode),when you grab the weapon you can do a diffrent set of attacks and also combo them,for example with a heavy sword you can lounch attack your opponent twice and then do an air attack which is an amazing combo,another great feature is the impale feature where you can throw the weapon at the opponent and when the opponent is impaled he continueslly losses health over time,you can either run away from the opponent and let the weapon deal death,or you can attack the opponent for even extra damage along with the damage of the impale.

another extremly awsome feature is the boss battles,unlike most of the games which only had two special boss battles(the sub-boss and the boss),mksm featured boss battles against almost every mk charectar in mk2 and mk3,the fact that many charectars where put in special boss battles was amazing becouse it makes them even more special and the fact each had a unique way of fighting against you is awsome,such as when you fought reptile,at first he would go way up and throw many powerfull energy balls that you have to avoid,and then later reptile would turn invisible and becouse you can't see him you can't lock on thus you can't block which adds more fun and more realizm becouse you can't block what you can't see and the fact that this is a wide area fight and not a close combat one on one fight,the invisibilaty is that much more important,becouse now you don't know where is he for real,another example for great boss battles is how baraka used two burning shaolin monks against you,and how he went to the other side to fight you in an awsome projectile fight,and how later you had to use the weapon to beat him,the fact that if he blocks 2 or 3 weapon attacks in a row he would automatially do an impale type of move that deals lots of damage and disarmes you of your sword is awsome,becouse this teaches that continues useless attacking won't work while trying to attack while he isn't blocking will.

another extremly great feature is the test your might feature,other than the previes two where you break something,this one involves during-gameplay mini-game which is great,the fact that you use it in many diffrent situations during your adventure is amazing,it is even more awsome in boss battles,such as when you deal enough succesfull attacks at baraka with the sword,your sword and his blades in one attack would stick forming a test of strength triggering the test your might mini-game,and also when you catch scorpion's spear and engage in a test your might.

the throwable objects is also a great feature where as you adventure there would be bones in the ground which you can pic up and throw for even more damage than what the projectile attacks do and also,it wouldn't use up any stamina,it was great how kintaro's head was used as a throwable object,makes the shao kahn fight that much more special.

there was also the awsome feature of team attacks,the one that i would consider THE BEST feature,there were two team attacks liu and lao could do,the first one was when kung lao does his spin special move and liu would shot a fire ball at kung lao so the whirling spin would spread the fireball into many fireballs hitting many enemies,you can also with an upgraded special make kung lao's spin last longer while liu would be able to shot his second(low) fireball which would make kung lao spread even more fireballs while he is spinning for even better results.

the other special team attack is divided into two team attacks,one where kung lao grabs liu and spins him around and another where liu grabs kung lao and spins him around,this is acually more than a normal move,although it costs one fatality from each liu and lao,if it's done correctly it can kill all the surrounding opponents just like a multality,to activate them,with either liu or lao press and hold the r1 button and press the r2 button towerd your teamate(their is a possible requirment of also holding L1 but i am not sure),if you did it with liu kang then when it activates,you'll see liu kang and kung lao doing attacks at the surrounding opponents while they are close to each other to keep the opponents away and they use acrobatic skills to switch places(for example,liu jumping over lao and take's lao's place while kung lao duck's under liu and takes liu's position),this is the defensive movement,while it seem's that liu and lao are attacking their opponents,they are simply keeping the opponents away from them to avoid seperation so that they would stay close to each other(becouse when the team attack move is done,it's like liu and lao planned for a special team attack and are focusing on staying close to each other while keeping the opponents away),the attacks liu and lao do in their defensive movement don't deal any damage,you'll notice that there is a buttong to the right,a button to the left and the damage in the middle,the button in the left is the button player one should press,and the button on the right is the button player two should press,while the number in the middle shows how much damage you'll do with the offensive movement,when the correct buttton is pressed another button will quickly show in it's place,that's the next button you should press,note that you can take your time before pressing the first button,but once it's pressed you'll have one second to push the next button and one second between each button you have to press.

if you either pressed the wrong button or you didn't press the button within one second then the offensive move will be executed dealing the amount of damage shown in the middle,the more buttons you get correctly the higher the damage you do,if you pressed all the buttons correctly then the offensive move will kill all of the surrounding opponents,i forgot to mention this but remmember when i talked about their defensive movement when they keep the opponents away,the offensive movement is when kung lao spins liu around,kung lao uses the whirling spin special move to make the spin more effective while liu moves his legs in a bycickle kick motion doing an upside-down bycickle kick,this move is done as soon as both players mess up or succeed at every button(if one player messes up,the button will be replaced with nothing,but the move won't happen yet untill the other player also messes up,or succeed's in all buttons).

also,if kung lao is the one to perform the move,then the defensive movement will be that liu will shot fireballs at the hat while kung lao's spins the hat around them(a flaming hat) as the hat keeps the opponents away,their offensive movement will be liu spinning kung lao around,kung lao will be grabing the hat and use it as the weapon while he spins around while liu transferes flame into the hat as he spins kung lao.

also the enviromental death traps were a great feature in mksm as it was always amusing to see a tarakatan get lounched by a catapult and get impaled into something,or throw a zombie into the living tree,or make an enemy fall from the pit 2,surprizingly no mater how many times you do it,it would never seem repetitive becouse of the amusing scenes of death.

the fatalities were at it's best as instead of the other fatalities where pressing a button forces you to move,when you do the fatality stunner,everything would stop and you would enter a button combination while you don't move acording to what you press which makes it much more simple to input the fatality,also the fact that when when you do the fatality stunner,the charectar does some kind movemant(such as kung lao grabs his hat,or scorpion summons fire or baraka sparking his blades),this is the fatality presentation which shows what is the charectar most likely to do in his fatality(kung lao uses his hat most of the time,scorpion uses fire most of the time and baraka uses his blades most of the time),an awsome animation that gets you pumped up for the fatality without even knowing you why got pumped up(many get exited by this presentation although they don't realize it).

the fatalities themselves surpased any fatality in any mk game,where as liu's arm rip and beat up fatality was better than jax's arm rip and nothing else fatality,it also had liu's awsome shaolin soccer fatality and his one breaking combo,kung lao also had many great fatalities involving his hat where as both liu and lao had about ten fatalities where as if you know every fatality then you would never get bored of doing fatalities every time you do a diffrent one.

and there is also the all new multality which is awsome due to the fact that you can kill all the surrounding opponents using a fatality type of move,what's also amazing about it is that it restores your health from the opponents you killed using a multality,so if you are low in health and you are surrounded by many opponents but you have 2 fatalities,then you can get rid of your opponents and also restore your health,also,liu and lao have 2 multalities each so you'll never get bored of doing multalities.

there is also the great feature of brutalities,the fact that you go into some kind of rage mode is awsome,it's like your charectar went crazy and when you press the power attack button,the charectar would anleash his craziness at the opponent,i mean,in a brutal way you would continuasly punch and kick your opponent and when he is down you would brutaly stomp on his head crushing it,or you would slice your opponent with your hat many times and then grab your opponent and do 2 powrfull headbutts and then a powerfull head cutting slash,and all that in a quick and brutal manuver,you can also do two powerfull attacks while in this mode with either quick or lounching attack and you can also use the grab to quickly kill your opponent,by far the brutality is an amazing accomplishment as you can murderize your opponents in a crazy way poeple might think your charectar went crazy where as you can kill as many opponents as posible while you are in brutality mode.

there are also other great features such as the evading feature where while you are locked on your opponent you can press x and a direction to do a dodging movement the is more effective than simply running out of the way of the attack,there is also the great feature of recovery where as if you get lounched you can easly press x to recover and while you are up there you can do an imidiate counter attack(such as kung would do the diving kicks and the ground slam or liu would do his lounching attack which gets the opponent in the air with him and then air combo his opponent).

there is also the reat feature of get up attacks where as every charectar has his own get up attack,such as liu would spin with his legs up and kick up while he adds fire to his legs or lao would use his hat and spin with it as he gets up.

there is also versus mode,this time unlike all the other mk games where you are forced to face the opponents direction and simply beat the crap out of him in a slow paced way,in mksm you have the freadom to go as far away from the opponent as possible and you have the freedom to explore the open fighting arena without being forced to stay close to your opponent,and the fact that there are objects that hurt such as spikes and falling would take away some health as well,there are also boxes that you can open for good or bad results,also the fact that the arena is wide can lead you to take the fight to almost any place in the arena where the style of fighting always changes depending on were you are as you can use the enviroment to your advantage(mksm should have had multiplayer mode)

there were also great costumes to mk charectars such scorpion and sub-zero having a little armor yet they don't seem heavy,and liu's more american apearance,the design of the charectars was amazing and so were the great graphics.

and the chalenges and difficulty of mksm is amazing,there is from simply beating the game in normal mode to beating survivor mode in hard mode,mksm is great for both normal and great players.

and the storyline was amazing,although it didn't exactly follow mk2,but it was even better than the original mk2 storyline.

by far mortal kombat shaolin monks is midway's greatest acheavment thus far.

the only thing mksm lacked was a totorial to explain all it's great features(which is why unfortantly many features went unnoticed)

i remember mentioning trying to beat survival mode on hard mode

which is NOT easy at all(it's realy hard)

then every game is hard in hard mode but mkda5 and mk vs dcu is really hard game to perform combos in mkda5 and kombo challenge in mk vs dcu it;called hard

well,as long as there is something in the game hard to perform in some way then it deserves difficulty level 5.

Ehh, the difficulty level there isnīt to measure how hard or easy the game is... If it would, an easy game would get a worse overall score just because of that.

exactly ^^

mksm can be easy by skipping survival mode and finishing the game at "normal" difficulty.

this game can be both easy and difficult.

for both noobs and pros ^^
