Are you really happy with character variations in mkx it seems characters variations is similar to fighting style like in MKDA5 MKD and MKA if i remember previous 3D mk games there is only 1 fighting style good and rest are lame and now character variations that remind me fighting style again there is only one difference fighting style can be changed during game and variations choose before game start

I really don't know. But you have a point here. Let's hope that these variations won't end up like the mess that half of the fighting styles ended up being.

But in another light, maybe that making the fighting styles all in stylebranch back then was the bad part of it. I mean this time with MKX, maybe it'll be an advantage to have separate variations, that can't be changed during the fight instead of what happen with the MKDA era.

I just hope that half of the roster won't be like 2 bads variations out of 3 like you had a point for fighting styles, cause it could happen.

I think idea of characters' variations is far away from fighting styles we know in MKDA-MKA games.

Many players like Raiden. Some players like the most projectiles, others like the most teleport moves, rest of players like the most another different moves.

We can still talk about the same character, but with different moveset, because of changes in MK games series. Which one is better? Sub Zero with Ground Freeze (MK2/UMK3 Classic) or Sub Zero with Ice Clone (MK3/UMK3 Unmasked/MK4)? Maybe you like the best Ice Ninja with Freezing Aura (MKDA) or Ice Weapons.

IMO that's why MKX has characters variations. In MKX Sub Zero's Ice Clone is more like in MK Annihilation movie. I like it.

I don't think so, people will want to change variantion during the fight, rather most of players will change variation between fights to makes experiment - which variantion I like the best.

This. Yep, using Raiden will be like having the choice between 3 different Raiden for players at first and we will probably all have a favorite pick for our favorite characters. But as Ed Boon has said in an interview already: A certain variation of Sub Zero may be a good match for one of the adversaries. And another of his variations may be a bad match up for some others.

I think this only Looks like discussions will be complicated. I so hope the characters will still be discussed as a whole despite the addition. But there's something that bugged me with characters that i liked in MKD, which is that fact that you had to cycle through 3 fighting styles to end with a good damageful combo. Now variations are a full Mode for character for each of them as it seems. So overall, instead of having 3 different types for each character, if one sucked it was hard to appreciate the character fully. If 2 styles sucked, forget it. I had a hard time trying to love Ermac in MKD. His MKA appearance was really bad.

So as it's done here, we were kind of forced to discuss a whole that was pretty bad for characters. It may be positive since instead of liking or disliking the whole thing, players will all have something with a group of characters. May help for tourney players? I don't know.
