Nitara vs Ashrah
i think they passed on a cool plot and rivalry. Not having a follow up bothers me.
This is a character discussion and opinion thread and once two characters are added as playable, you might do both arcades and it doesn't matter who wins but still. I miss it bad. As much as i still love the tanya vs Jade and the biggest hero vs boss rivalries in the game. Never used Ashrah that much after deception where she was surprisingly more comfortable than Ermac to me when i practice her in Konquest. Of course they seem to be confused characters about their alignment but i would give both a chance. Of clearing their and our minds at least. Similar Threads:

Yeah, it was first how she was portrayed. But i'm having trouble figuring this one out. Since Nitara seemed to have joined Darkness in Armageddon and Ashrah arrives on the side of light. She wants to be purified no?
I know the game came before the bios. But... The vampire started as a neutral character and i guess it's by helping Cyrax that she became good. (Her alignment in her bio card) Why would she be joining darkness? Which one is the good character in this particular rivalry? Or which one would you like to have as good or evil? |

Good point. I just had this idea that Ashrah, if she comes back as a vampire hunter could look a little more like a Van Helsing type of hunter. She could still have Datusha and add to that special moves like throwing a cross or impaling with it. She could shoot a silver bullet loaded gun. Blinding Nitara by only showing the cross wouldn't make sense on other chars so she could use a really shinny light instead (Solar light), would blind them all in close range and she has a free combo. A little like Stryker's X-Ray i guess.

I have to admit that i love the idea but for a Mortal Kombat game? I don't wish to see that much guests characters like a full castlevania or if it is a crossover. Do not wish to see so many vampire characters like Dracula, Blade or the twilight you know what only because they wish to bring back Nitara and a Van Helsing type of female. Nitara as a MK vamp is enough unless they create another original vamp one day to relive her storyline.
But i would lie if i said that croosover wouldn't interest me man! Really cool stuff. MK entangled in all this darkness and Vampire mythology? Whatever they do games and movies really need to bring that back about vampires, gargoiles and others. I love it. That crossover is yet the most interesting i've read about. Nice job there. Since Ashrah is a demon and has to be in the Netherealm at that point (Shinnok will most likely invade Outworld and earthrealm.) I guess Nitara was depicted more as a neutral/good character. I would tend to agree since she's more of a defender of a realm and a dying breed at this time. Course she's vampire. Power could become one of her motive. But if she's not a defender? I see her as a Outworld good guy and trying to help Raiden in the war to come or stuck in the Netherealm for her sins and under Shinnok's power. Will she be allied with good? Will she reappear as an evil char? This is most likely that Nitara will turn imo. But she clearly arrived as a good guy and had a mean to escape the Netherealm so... Whenever the good guys need it. Raiden will probably be angry and seeking redemption in the game(s) to come. He could also keep making things worse so he might be convinced that her kind has to be eliminated. That is where Ashrah could get involved. But trusting a demon trying to ascend from the Netherealm? When Shinnok is the lord of this hell? I would go with trusting the vampire. And take her to battle with me. Outworld and earth must live so that she can live on too. Don't ask but god the MK crew is probably unable or unwilling to make the vampire a good guy. Because it falls under sense i suppose. That sux since vampires have to be F*** nowadays to be consider good so no one is scared by them. And the MK games? Sad but that type of character has no chance to end up cared about as a good character imo. For only reason the fact she isn't human/From earthrealm or trying to save it. They have Skarlet for a bad guy now though. And still Ashrah as a potential enemy so all hope's not lost. Can hardly wait to see but they tend to treat many of the less popular characters like shit so that they never become their own char. i.e: The way they always treated Sheeva before and with MK9. Thanks for the compliment. I think the idea works on the levels of epic storyline, gore factor, characters, game play and legacy of the two vaunted franchises. I admit in retrospect that some of these characters probably would not work in a Mortal Kombat game but I think that due to the aforementioned ideas I posited it could work. One thing that would have many purists outraged would be the continued Japanizing of Castlevania. If you visit the Castlevania Dungeon you will find quite a few dissidents to that fact. As for MK many here are probably not to hip to any crossover after the MKvDC game which wasn't a bad fighting game but it was a really bad MK game.

Can't complain about MKvsDC. Wasn't so great but there was some fun to take out of it. I think MK9 is only better in terms of spectacle/show on in arcade and VS mode.
On topic: I wonder if they intend to change a lot of things after the release of MK9, but i think nobody knows where's Cyrax at the time. He might not end up crossing Nitara's path but that could make a great chapter or 2 for the sequel: Kitana and Sindel, Shao Kahn are gone but i think they could Start where Nitara's spying on Kitana's camps. She would have to flee obviously. Cyrax and Reptile could be her first battles. Maybe a run in with the SF once Cyrax agreed to follow her. And so Ashrah could appear in the Netherealm, making an altered Nitara/Cyrax ending, or not. But if she intend to ascend from the Netherealm her chapter could really have a start against the vamp and Cyborg. I'm not sure, but i think they both fought the Onis in the canon story though. That being said, i wonder about Ashrah but Nitara must have been aware of the Sword's existence before her trip in the DA timeline. An encounter between the 2 ladies would for sure change Nitara's plans. |
