Unhappy Child Dies in Mortal Kombat Inspired Death

Mortal Kombat made national headlines today, this time in part to a tragic child's death in Colorado. From the article:
JOHNSTOWN, Colo. (AP) — Two teens have been charged with killing the 7-year-old sister of one of them by beating her with imitations of moves from the "Mortal Kombat" video game, prosecutors said.
Lamar Roberts, 17, and Heather Trujillo, 16, were charged as *****s on one count each of felony child abuse causing death, state prosecutor Robert Miller said in court documents released Wednesday and filed a day earlier. According to a police affidavit, the teens were baby-sitting Trujillo's half-sister, Zoe Garcia, on Dec. 6 while the girl's mother was at work. Zoe lost consciousness and stopped breathing after the teens hit, kicked and body-slammed her, imitating moves used in the video game, the document said.

Bad parenting should be blamed for this and that the teens in this should be responsible for their actions instead of video games and any other type of media. Actually, they should get life in prison.

This is why "M" rated games are not sold to those under 18. So that they don't do stupid things like this. I remember back in January 2005 at a Electronic Boutique store, an 18 year old got upset with the cashier that he couldn't purchase San Andreas because he thought he could use his student card for I.D. to purchase it. He got into an argument with Patrick, the cashier and stormed out when he couldn't purchase it.

Being 20 at the time, I was quietly laughing because he didn't understand that he needed something with his birthdate on it. And he was just doing his job because who knows if the guy was actually still 17. You see, one of the things people tend to forget is that you could be still be 13 when you enter high school and be 17 on your first day of College or University because there are those born between September and December. As in the case with Patrick because he told him "How do I know you're not still 17. When I first entered high school, I was 13 and you know why? Because I was born in November".

The thing I don't get is...it doesn't say anywhere that they were playing an MK game. So how do they know that they were playing any of the Mortal Kombat video games?

I say a wrestling video game was actually involved in the death and not Mortal Kombat because it talks about kicking and stomping the girl, and bodyslamming her.
