to me he looks good

Actually, his first appearance in MK3 was Goodbecause Shao Kahn's extermenation squads scarred him and stuff and therefore he wanted revenge, so fighting as a chosen fighter for the good side, before MKDA, he was somehow weakend and Mavado defeated him and took his Hookswords, later, Havik found him and restored his power if he would lead the new black dragon, Kabal did so and killed Mavado, now the New Black Dragon stands for anarchy and is therefore evil (that's why his card sais it) ... BUT having no intention to either fight along good or evil, he is indeed neutral

Kabal is a wild card. He leans towards evil simply because he doesn't want to help anyone but himself. He could care less what realm is taking over what realm or what danger threatens existence. All he cares about is how Kabal is doing.

In the long run though he'd help whichever side is going to give him the bigger personal gain. That's what a mercenary is.
