MK 1- Snes/Genesis

Does anyone really know why MK 1 fatalities were different for Snes and Genesis?

Some examples are;

Cage: Foot Impale- snes / Head Decap- genesis
Sub-Zero: Deep Freeze- snes / Spine Rip- genesis
Rayden: Decintegrate- snes / Head Explosion- genesis

So why were they different for?

SNES also didn't have blood, i don't exactly know why, but it sure sucks

Nintendo censored it, that´s why, But they needed to allow blood in the next MK because MK1 sold better on Genesis because it wasn´t censored. Probably Nintendo also wanted the fatalities to be toned down...? Which would answer the topic´s question.

There's a video clip somewhere on the net where Ed Boon stated that Midway wanted to incorporate all that, but Nintendo said no and didn't want blood and fatalities because Nintendo was too kiddy friendly and were still aiming that particular audience. Or something like that or on those lines. And that's why the Sega Genesis version of MK1 sold more than the SNES.
