Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat: It almost happened

While the reaction to the [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe has been almost universally negative, it looks as though the world of Batman and Superman wasn't MK co-creator Ed Boon's first choice. In an interview with [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register], Boon said that he pursued a similar arrangement with several other fighting game franchises but was never able to work anything out in the end.
"I think the underlying thing that was always a problem was that it was always our competition," Boon said. "If we were to do a Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat game, who's going to develop it, and who's going to own the rights to it? It's that kind of issue." And while the series has clearly taken a different path, Boon did not rule out the possibility of revisiting the idea in the future. "I still want to see it happen," he said.
As for MK vs DC, Boon says it will be a drastic departure from previous games in the series in terms of game play. "It has online, it has dual storylines—we tell the story from the perspective of the MK guys and from the DC guys," Boon explained. "It has new fighting mechanics, transition combat, freefall combat—so you're actually punching and kicking as you fall to a new area. So it's going to be a completely different feel. It's not going to feel anything like MK Armageddon."
We should all be thankful for that.

The game would of been sick if it was MK vs KI. Just imagine the rivalries there would be.....

Meh, Killer Instinct isn´t that good. Maybe that´s the reason why there´s no parodies or other animations of it, like there is from SF vs MK for example. Especially the characters weren´t that original or special.

to be honest with you guys this game looks like it could be rielly solid but like many people they could of picked a better company to fight like image comics I think it would be cool to see the darkness fight with noob saibot or kitana with witchblade plus who said you have to play as the dc charecters in this game don't want to then don't :evilsmile:

Yeah, but as there´s pretty small amount of characters, it would be pretty boring to use only MK ones I guess.
